When I was a kid, my sisters and I each had a favorite food. My sister Donna loved homemade chicken and dumplings (the kind that were big dough balls, not the flat things I recently learned about). My sister Sandy loved Campbell's Tomato Soup with grilled cheese. Or at least I think that was her favorite...I should probably ask her.
Sandy? Was this your favorite food or not?
Okay. Now, back to my favorite food. Pinto beans cooked with a big 'ol ham hock. Soaked overnight and then cooked for a several hours with the ham hock. Back then, I didn't top them with onions but I do now. In fact, I added some banana peppers on the side this time around! Yum!
My family does not enjoy my favorite childhood food. This is good and bad. Good? I get to eat it all by myself! Bad? I get to eat it all by myself! I think I've had my fiber fill for quite some time now!
I believe these will become part of our blizzard food list. Unless, of course, the blizzards come back to back. I don't think my digestive tract can take another batch all to myself this soon :P
